HELP WANTED ~ A maintenance person for year round lawn care and snow removal 

at St. Paul's Anglican  Church in Cobden.    Must be available before 8am and again before 3pm, five days  weekly.  If interested, call Alice at 613-646-7881

The Cobden Legion's Third Sunday of the Month Breakfast Buffet, all you can eat!  
Adults • $11.50, Children 12 & under • $5
Menu consists of: Scrambled Eggs, Pancakes & Maple Syrup, Sausages, Bacon, Home Fries, Beans, Toast & Jam, Muffins, Juice, Coffee/Tea.  Come and join us for a great meal with family and friends.   Everyone is welcome!!

TURKEY SUPPER, serving lunch and supper, hosted by Our Lady of Grace Church, Westmeath, at the Westmeath Community Centre.  Adults: $15 • Children 5-12: $6, Children 4 and under: FREE!

There will be grab bags, raffle tickets, baking & crafts and Bingo!  

Take-out is available, Wheelchair Accessible • Air Conditioned Hall.

 Sunday, August 18, 2pm

The Bromley Historical Society will host a genealogical talk, From Scotland to Douglas: The MacGregor Clan.   Since retirement, well-known Douglas resident Jim MacGregor has been researching and documenting information on his family in Canada and Scotland.  He twice attended a Clan Gregor Gathering and has made use of his grandmother’s scrapbooks of newspaper clippings and ship lists in 1818. This free presentation will take place in the Old Town Hall, Micksburg Road, Osceola. It will be of interest to those who are researching their family roots and those fascinated by local history. Refreshments will be served following the question and answer period. This free event is open to everyone.

 Wednesday, August 21, 7 to 10pm The Beachburg Lions Club holds a Weekly Bingo in the Lion's Club Hall.  Doors open at 6PM. This is a chip bingo, no dauber required. There are 15 regular games and 6 specials. The jackpot starts at 50 numbers and the numbers go up each week until a bingo is won.   Jackpot prize is $250. Consolation prize is $25. 


Friday, August 23, 7:30pm The jackpot in the Cobden Legion's CATCH THE ACE progressive raffle lottery is now approx $3350 if the Ace of Spades is drawn. There is a weekly cash prize plus a chance to win the main jackpot.  A draw is made at 7:30pm every Friday evening in the Legion club room.  Tickets are only $5.00 at the Legion and can be purchased daily during regular Legion hours. Well folks.. Next week is the Cobden Fair and every year there seems to be some confusion regarding the Farmer's Market that weekend.

The Farmers Market IS OPEN on Saturday, however... there are no vendors in the parking lot area... all participating vendors will be located INSIDE the market building. TELL YOUR FRIENDS!!  And there will be ICE CREAM!!!!!!


 Saturday, August 24, 11am to 1pm  The Cobden Legion BBQ takes place in front of the Legion on Main Street.  Come in, enjoy a  hamburger, sausage or hot dog BBQ'ed the way you like them!

Ross Museum will be having a Celtic Concert at St. Aidens.  Come and enjoy a concert with talented young players and a few oldies as well.  Tea, coffee & some Scottish treats.  Admission by donation.  Bring a chair!

There will be an an Ecumenical Service at the Cobden Fair.   Rev. Patricia VanGelder will be the presiding minister.  Offering to go to the Cobden Food Bank.  See you at the fair !

Cobden Legion Charity Golf Tournament & Dinner.  18 Holes of golf at the Oaks of Cobden, shot-gun start at 11am.  Delicious roast beef dinner at the Cobden Legion following the Tournament.  $75 includes golf, cart and dinner, dinner alone, $18.  Many prizes and sponsored holes.   Hole-in One prize, a trip to Las Vegas!  

All proceeds donated back within the community & for Homeless Veterans.

A peer support group, for all losses, is facilitated by trained volunteers who have also experienced grief and loss.  There is no cost to attend. Light refreshments will be served.

The Victim Services of Renfrew County is hosting their 14th Annual Golf Tournament at the Oaks of Cobden Golf Course .  Cost: $300/team (includes 18 holes, golf cart and dinner).  All proceeds to benefit the direct service work of VSRC.
